This guide provides a comprehensive overview of managing flight personnel within the Horizon platform, from crew profiles and qualifications to legality, scheduling, and trip assignments.


๐Ÿ” Accessing the Crew Section

The People module is the central hub for managing your flight crew. (Passengers and general Users are covered in a separate article.)

  • Go to the People section in the main menu.

  • Use filters to display only Crew Members for a focused view.

  • Click a crew member to open their profile and access detailed records.

To change a person into a Crewmember,  select the edit button in their profile, and add the 'CREW' group.  This will activate the Legality, Requirements and Logbook sections of the profile.


๐Ÿ“ Crew Member Profile Overview

Each profile includes crew-specific data categorized into several sections:

Crew Activities

  • Log non-flight activities like Standby, Training, Positioning, or Meetings.

  • Define activity types in System Configuration.

  • Track:

    • Start/End dates

    • Duty time accrual

    • Locations, aircraft models, and other details

    • Multiple crew assignments per activity

  • Briefing: Send mobile notifications for acknowledgment.

Certificates

  • Store unlimited certifications per crew member:

    • Type (ATP, Commercial, Instructor, etc.)

    • Number, Category/Class, and Type Ratings


โœˆ๏ธ Assignments and Qualifications

Centralized Qualification Management

  • Define qualifications under System Configuration:

    • Aircraft Model

    • Crew Positions (PIC, SIC)

    • Regulations (Part 91, 135, etc.)

  • Assign qualifications via each crew memberโ€™s profile.

  • Qualifications link directly to training requirements.

  • Streamlined training assignment

  • Simplified compliance tracking

The Legality section/tab auto-calculates compliance based on assigned regulations:

  • Currency: Takeoffs, landings, approaches, and expiry

  • Flight/Duty Time: Accrual vs limits (monthly, quarterly, yearly)

  • Rest Periods: Tracked for compliance

Setup via System Configuration:

  • Define regulations

  • Configure:

    • Flight currency intervals

    • Duty and flight time limitations

    • Required rest periods


๐Ÿ“š Crew Requirements & Training

Requirements Section/Tab

  • Manage training due dates, completions, and grace periods

  • Attach completion documents

  • View completion history and progress

  • Color indicators for status (e.g., expired, due, completed)

Requirement Groups

  • Bundle related items (e.g., Company Dispatch Pilot)

  • Assign to qualifications

  • Supports alternate requirements (e.g., Part 91 vs Part 135)

Track all crew flight experience:

  • Enter initial flight times by category and aircraft

  • Automatically populated via flight logs

  • Manual entries for sim/off-fleet sessions

  • Track takeoffs, landings, and approaches

The Crew Schedule provides a timeline view of all assignments:

  • Gantt-style layout from 12 hours to 1 month

  • Rotations: Define patterns (e.g., 7-on/7-off)

  • Customize statuses (e.g., โ€œWilling to Workโ€)

  • Displays:

    • Crew activities (training, standby)

    • Flight assignments and duty periods

    • Brief status (sent, acknowledged)

    • Duty/rest period indicators with visual bars

Crew data is fully integrated with trip planning:

  • View crew summary per leg

  • Assign crew with dropdowns filtered by qualifications

  • Display:

    • Brief status

    • Passport/visa data (leg-specific or shared)

Active alerts help you ensure compliance before flight:

  • Warnings for:

    • Training gaps

    • Expired certifications

    • Passport/visa issues

    • Currency or legality limits

View dedicated sections for:

  • Crew Currency

  • Go to the Messaging section โ†’ Select Crew Brief

  • Briefs are sent via:
