Viewing and Managing Airport Records in Horizon

Purpose

This article provides guidance on how to search for, view, and interpret airport records in the Horizon Airports module. This module allows users to access detailed airport data, including identifiers, location information, facilities, fuel availability, customs details, and operational attributes.


Accessing the Airports Module

  1. From the Horizon main navigation bar, click Airports.

  2. The Airports search view opens, displaying a search panel on the left and detailed record information on the right.



Searching for an Airport

  1. In the search bar located at the top left of the screen, type any part of the airport name, ICAO, or IATA code.

    • Example: Enter “IAH” to locate G. Bush Intercontinental Airport.

  2. The search results populate in the left-hand panel, showing matching airports with summary information such as:

    • Airport name

    • ICAO/IATA code

    • Location (city, state, country)

    • Runway length and surface type

    • Fuel availability

    • Approach types

    • Airport usage (Public/Private)


Viewing an Airport Record

  1. Click on the desired airport from the search results (e.g., G. Bush Intercontinental, KIAH / IAH).

  2. The detailed airport record displays on the right side of the screen.



Airport Record Layout

Header Information

  • Airport Name and Codes: Displays ICAO, IATA, FAA, and LID codes.
    Example: ICAO – KIAH | IATA – IAH | FAA – IAH

  • Location: City, State, and Country.

  • Sunrise/Sunset times and local date/time.

  • Edit Button (top right): Allows authorized users to update airport details.


Core Sections

1. Airport Details

  • Facility Type: Indicates the primary airport type (e.g., Airport, Heliport).

  • Airport Usage / Type: Shows whether the facility is Public, Private, or Military.

  • Owner Type: Lists ownership category.

  • Rural Airport: Checkbox indicates if the airport is classified as rural.

  • Jet A / AVGAS 100LL: Indicates fuel availability.

  • Landing Fee / Closed: Shows if applicable.

  • Elevation & Coordinates: Displays airport elevation, latitude, and longitude.


2. Location Information

  • City, State, Country, Zip

  • Direction: Indicates bearing or direction information.

  • Conversion Variation: Magnetic variation at the airport.


3. Customs Information

  • Customs: Marks if the airport has customs services.

  • Airport of Entry (AOE): Indicates airport entry status.

  • Prior Permission Required (PPR): Specifies if permission is needed for arrival.

  • FET 225 Zone: Displays applicable taxation zone.


4. Time Information

  • IANA Timezone and Local Timezone

  • UTC Offset

  • Daylight Saving Time (DST) details including start/end dates.

  • Standard Time (ST) dates


5. Airport Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF)

  • ARFF Class and Certificate

  • ARFF Scheduled / Date

  • ARFF Level and Type


6. Slot Information

  • Indicates whether slots are required for:

    • Departures (Slots US Dep)

    • Arrivals (Slots US Arr)

    • International Departures/Arrivals


Editing an Airport Record

  1. Click the Edit button (top-right).

  2. Update relevant fields as needed.

  3. Click Save to confirm changes.

Note: Editing permissions are restricted to authorized users.


Tips

  • Use the map tab at the top to visualize the airport’s location.

  • The Runways tab provides detailed runway specifications.

  • Use the Services, Catering, FBOs, and Fuel tabs to view supporting service providers.

  • Time data auto-calculates based on the airport’s local timezone.
